Today’s Reading 1 Corinthians 10-16

***Note***

We are in Day 15 of a 40 day read through the New Testament challenge today. The first 21 days of readings will be listed at the end of this post

***End Note ***

Finishing up this morning Paul’s 1st letter to the Corinthians, I was struck by something in the final chapter. Paul is reminding the people of Corinth that no matter what else is going on in their lives that they have a responsibility. They are required to take up an offering for the needy in Jerusalem. I find this fascinating.

Reading through this whole letter you can see that there is a lot of issues going on in Corinth with the church. The natural inclination of most would be to get your house right and then move on to do the things that you should do. Yet, Paul is telling them something vastly different. While they are working on their own baggage their obedience to God still requires them to be the hands and feet of Christ.

I love this. I know that dealing with issues both personal and corporate can be time-consuming and overwhelming. Yet, I also know that God is calling me to still do what I can and where I can to share the story of love, grace, and salvation. I am still challenged to live a life of service and hope.

Deal with your stuff today but do not miss na opportunity to share the love of God.
