New Testament Reading Challenge Day 11

Today’s Reading Matthew 13-18

***Note***

We are in Day 11 of a 40 day read through the New Testament challenge today. The first 14 days of readings will be listed at the end of this post

***End Note ***

Last night was the night that sports fans had been waiting for quite some time. Last night was the selection show for NCAA March Madness. The teams are all picked and ranked and the tournament is just around the corner. This always is a very exciting time.

It is exciting because it is a winner take all event but there is more to it than that. This is the event that many of the “cinderella” stories of sports are told. It no longer matters what everyone else thinks of you. It is simply about what you are going to do now. One loss and it is all over. You get one chance. It is one and done.

I was thinking of the tournament when I was reading this morning, especially this selection from the Gospel of Matthew. The Disciples found themselves in an argument about which of them was the greatest. Jesus’ answer was basically telling them that the their view of the ranking is all messed up. What truly mattered is how they lived now. What truly mattered is this one life they were living.

We get one chance and the chance is now. How are you going to live your life? How are you going to spend your time? Will you be worried about tomorrow or will you be a  blessing today?

What is your choice?
