I love Orange Juice

Today’s Reading  Matthew 5:1  – Matthew 15:39

By the time you read this, my wife and I will be in Florida. I should have a glass of fresh Florida Orange juice in my hands. I missed that juice. It has been a couple of years since we were able to go down to Florida. Of all the things that I have missed, and that includes Mickey Mouse, orange juice is top on the list.

There is nothing quite like it for me. It is sweet. It smells great. It is the perfect complement to a nice cup of morning coffee. I love it. Hopefully when we get there the refrigerator will be filled with that golden orange goodness. Mmmm.

In today’s reading, we are reminded of the importance of good fruit. Jesus points out that a good tree provides good fruit. A bad tree? Well that fruit isn’t as good. Our words…our actions…these are the signs of the type of foundation we have.

When people spend time with you, what do they see? When they hang out with you, what do they hear? Are your actions, the actions that show your foundation based on God or do they betray a shaky foundation? What kind of fruit do you produce?

These words from Mother Theresa are powerful:

Dear Jesus,
Help us to spread your fragrance everywhere we go, flood our souls with your Spirit and life.  Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly that our lives may only be a radiance of yours.  Shine through us and be so in us that every soul we come in contact with may feel your presence in our soul.  Let them look up and see no longer us but only Jesus. Stay with us and then we shall begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be light to others. The light, O Jesus, will be all from you.  None of it will be ours.  It will be your shining on others through us.  Let us thus praise you in the way you love best by shining on those around us.  Let us preach you without preaching not by words, but by our example by the catching force the sympathetic influence of what we do the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to you.
-Mother Teresa
Living that type of life..that is good fruit indeed.
